Samstag Abend.

Den 21ten Oct./93.

Meine süsse Toni,

Von Herzen wünsche ich Dir Glück und Segen zu Deinem lieben Geburtstage. Tausendmal lieber wäre es mir ja natürlich wenn ich Dir mündlich gratulieren könnte, das mir aber leider ganz unmöglich ist, so musst Du mit diesem Schreibsel zufrieden sein. Ich hoffe das kleine Tischchen wird Dir Spass machen, & dass Du es zu Deinen Thees gebrauchen kannst.

Seitdem Du zurück bist, habe ich Dich mit keinem Blick gesehen, ausser am Fenster, was man nicht gerade viel nennen kann. Aber meine Gedanken schweifen oft zu Dir & meine innigen Gebete zu Deinem Glück & Heil, — besonders Morgen, & in der Kirche, werde ich alles was Dein Herz Dir wünscht, herbeiflehen. — God bless you & protect you & may He keep His guiding hand over you as heretofor.

A good kiss will fly through the air to you. I wonder whether you will be in the Theatre? It is also the Empresse's Birthday tomorrow, so the officers will be grand at the Opera. Ich hätte Dir schon früher einmal geschrieben, aber meine Zeit ist zu sehr in Anspruch genommen, ich bin den ganzen Tag bei meinen Verwandten & wir brennen & malen alle wie besessen für den Bazaar am 4ten November. Mein Bein macht sich auch sehr bemerkbar, sodass ich kaum gehe. — Aber es ist schon 11 Uhr & ich muss in's Bett, drum Addio. —

Abermals tausend Glück- & Segenswünsche.

Saturday evening.

21st Oct./93.

My sweet Toni,

From the bottom of my heart I wish you happiness and blessings on your dear Birthday. Of course I would prefer it a thousand times if I could congratulate you by mouth, which unfortunately is quite impossible for me, so you must be satisfied with this letter. I hope you will enjoy the little table & that you can use it with your tea.

Since you've been back I have not seen you with a single glance, except at the window, which cannot be called a lot. But my thoughts often wander to you & my heartfelt prayers for your happiness & salvation — especially tomorrow, & in Church I will pray for everything your heart desires. — God bless you & protect you & may He keep His guiding hand over you as heretofor.
