The letter:
Darling Ernie dear,
I am sending you some photos to-day, the rest will follow another time. What intense joy it was seeing you all. — How I am paying for the fatigues of my visits, a week already in bed, as had such a strong heart, back, leg aches & its a tiny bit better now, only sleepy pulse & very weak, strong anemie. — lie all day. From 5 on get onto my sopha — either on balconey or in the next room. After dinner N. reads to me. The whole day almost he is out at the manoeuvres. I mostly lie with closed eyes, so tired, a little reading or looking at things gives headache, managed to sow a little yesterday. — Now my left kidney also runs all over the place. —
Little Georgie B. comes tomorrow from 11-3 from Moscow on his way back to Réval — Of course not yet seen my regiment & now cannot be on horseback. Knew I should be quite done up, was so tiring abroad & then back here, visits & Krasnoe by motor, finished me off. —
Cannot write any more. Kiss you all ever so tenderly. Too happy I know your precious, adorable Babies now. Kisses & blessings fr. yr. old Sunny.
Above: Alexandra.
Above: Ernst.
