Alix wrote this undated letter to her brother Ernst in late 1878 when the whole family save Elisabeth (Ella) had fallen ill with diphtheria.
The letter:
Dear Ernie
there is a very pretty clock where Ella lives and thats got a ship which moves up & down on some green sea. I hope you will soon get better. I am much better. My throat does not hurt much now. With love from Alix.
