JANUAR 4
Friday
Kiel
Very cold again. Breakfast at 9. At 10½ we 4 drove to the Taulow Museum — most interesting (Holzschnitzereien. Holzschnitzerei). From there, to Prss. Henriette (Fr. Prof. Esmarch, Uncle Christian's Sister), to pay her a visit. —

At 1½ Luncheon. Then we 4 ran to the Jeueler's Shop (Hansen), which is just at the end of the garden to buy old silver things, of wh. he has a quantity.

Supped at 7, & then left Kiel & darling Irène, for Darmstadt. —

Major Grollmann came into the Wagon at Altona [illegible] in Hamburg, & used to be at Darmstadt. — Very cold. —

JANUAR 5
Saturday
Darmstadt
Arrived here at about 10, found all looking well.

Uncles were at the Station, & Sandro in the house. —

Arranged my Things after Breakfast, & then saw our 4 Gentlemen with Wilhelmino at 12. —

Luncheon at 2. —

Tea at 5½ with Victoria & Louis.

Supped at 8, to bed past nine after bath & headwashing. —

Very cold again.

Have been away fortnight. —

JANUAR 6
Sunday.
Darmstadt
Breakfast at 9. Then went for a run in the garden, with Gretchen. Rested & read.

Family luncheon at 2. Sandro did not come, because of bad cold, & Alexi not, because he had returned to Schönberg. — Painted. Cut out for Baby's Scrapbook. Tea at 5½. — Looked at Papers tc.

Supper at 8 to-gether with the Ladies, & then had drawing Games. —

Very cold out to-day. —
